Crystal Clear

It’s not only the Chinese who love their fine food on beautiful tableware. These are things that are just as valued by the international community! There is a strong trend now of using presentation to improve the colour, smell and flavour of food.

Since ancient China, one image has been a source of inspiration for many – a glass of fine wine sparkling in the moonlight. Naturally, the first thing this image brings to mind is drink. Chinese tea culture and wine culture greatly emphasise that different types of drinks should be enjoyed in different and unique drinking vessels. Trendy customers and enthusiasts all have their own preferences, and this has resulted in the creation of a diverse range of drinks and accompanying tableware. The majority of these vessels are in fact crystal glassware.

When photographing crystal glassware, it’s not really the clarity of the crystal that counts. The actual drinks inside these vessels are even more important, whether it’s white wine, red wine, fruit juice, or tea. So, before taking any shots, you need to understand the nature of these vessels and the drinks that they hold. The subtleties of these subjects need to be captured in just the right way. A picture shouldn’t only be about the glass, the drink, or the environment – it’s about the combination of these elements.

This week the photos I am sharing are of: trendy cocktails, red wine, tea, and mineral water.
