Copenhagen Commuting – The Manfrotto Manhattan Bag

What I do

Last year I launched my own creative agency, A-SPACE, where we craft visual identities and communications solutions through creative direction, brand identity, apps, websites, print, photography and video. I also do calligraphy and paint, considering myself a maker more than anything else. My Instagram is where I showcase my photography – often focusing on my artwork and daily life. I have to admit, even though I own a DSLR and film cameras, 98% of the time I shoot on my Iphone 7 because I’m always on the go.

A Day in My Life

While no day looks exactly alike for me, there are some reoccurring themes. I often start off the morning in my studio, drinking coffee and, working on my current projects. Then off to client meetings, cycling everywhere, as it’s the best way to get around Copenhagen quickly. When I’m back at the studio it’s all about ideation, design and creation. I’m always juggling multiple projects, and creativity is a huge part of how I operate. I’m a huge traveler, and I have a hard time staying in the same place for more than two minutes. My travels are where I most often find inspiration. I was just in Tokyo at the beginning of May, and I must have taken thousands of photographs.

Copenhagen Commuting – The Manhattan Bag

On most mornings, I can be found cycling through my home city of Copenhagen on the way to my studio in the city centre. I am usually carrying my cameras, laptop and my calligraphy pens, which take up more room than you would expect! It’s essential to be able to carry all of my tools easily and securely. I strap the bag to my bike and get around the city without any of the hassle of lugging gear around. The Manhattan bag suits me because of its versatility. I use it for my cameras, but also just to bring my laptop to a client meeting for example. I’m not a huge fan of the “standard” camera bag, so the Manhattan suits me because I can carry it by hand on the go, I can strap it to my bike, I can even use it as a backpack. Also, I like that it doesn’t look like your typical camera bag.

Andreas M Hansen

Andreas M. Hansen is an incorrigible creative who specializes in web design, art direction, calligraphy, and crafting brand identity. A self-taught calligraphist, he has amassed a large following on his Instagram account, which showcases his clean, minimalistic approach to the art form as well as his high-contrast aesthetic.

Used to working primarily in a digital medium, Andreas first pursued calligraphy for its physicality, drawn in by the tactility of ink and paper. After noticing a lack of usable and fun tools for designers to learn the many typefaces, he designed and created his own app, Font Nerd, which gamifies the process.

Currently based in Copenhagen, Denmark he has lived and worked around the world, most recently in Hong Kong. Andreas is always interested in hearing about new projects, don’t hesitate to reach out to him.
