When you pick up the phone and your buddy is on the other end asking if you want to head to Oman on an exploratory fly fishing trip, the answer was, is and always should be a resounding “yes”! Oman, with its diverse desert landscape, miles and miles of ocean shoreline and an incredibly welcoming culture is an up and comer on the travel radar. We spent 7 days exploring the southern coast of Oman on foot and by boat, and it most certainly did not disappoint!

White sand beaches give way to the Indian Ocean, with water a shade of blue I’d never seen before. Photographically, Oman offers a smorgasbord of opportunity. The landscape was incredibly diverse, with everything from barren mountainous regions to vast desert vistas (reminiscent of a Star Wars set) to colorful coastal scenes begging to be captured in soft early or late light. Palm trees pierced a night sky replete with stars as numerous as grains of sand, as camels roamed in the distance…
